Bonding with your dog is fun and rewarding. Dogs do best when they get a lot of time to socialize and exercise, which happens to be good for their human too!

  1. Go for a hike or walk in a new area to explore together – check out local parks, trails or just explore a new part of your neighborhood on foot!
  2. Play fetch or catch with a ball or frisbee – some dogs are natural retrievers while others might need a bit of encouragement, it’s a great way to bond and play together.
  3. Take your dog to a dog park and let them socialize with other dogs – dogs need regular socialization but some are intimidated by large groups of dogs. Opt for the small dog area if it’s available, to keep littler pals feeling safe and secure.
  4. Go swimming together in a lake or pool – if you’re not sure of your dogs swimming skills doggie life vests are a safe option.
  5. Teach your dog new tricks or obedience commands – even older dogs can learn new tricks!
  6. Have a picnic in the park and include your dog – bring a blanket and some special treats for you and your dog!
  7. Go on a road trip and bring your dog along for the adventure – explore spots near and far, dogs are the perfect travel companions!
  8. Set up an obstacle course in your yard or at a park and have your dog navigate it – once your dog has mastered the basics try timing it and increase your dogs speed and accuracy. You may have an agility champion in the making!
  9. Play hide and seek with your dog by hiding treats or toys and letting them find them – give a little challenge to the daily routine of eating. Dog puzzles are another great way to boost your dogs fun and give them some mental stimulation.
  10. Have a spa day and pamper your dog with a grooming session and a massage – after all that activity, unwind with a bit of self and pup-care.

Remember to always keep your dog’s safety in mind and make sure they are healthy enough for any activity you do together. While some dogs may have conditions that keep them from enjoying all the activities above certainly any quality time together will be much enjoyed and well worth the effort.
