If you’re like me you may prefer your dog’s company over other beings, including the human kind. It’s understandable, dogs are great companions full of unconditional love and they don’t opine about politics. While many of us are looking to save money these days and may have cut out some of the extras to make space for the rising cost of…well everything…we still like to get out of the house and enjoy a nice meal cooked and served by someone other then ourselves.

So lets appreciative the efforts of the wait staff and take our favorite companion out for a Doggie Lunch Date! Here are some of my favorite dog friendly spots in my home town of South Pasadena.

1. Mike & Ann’s Restaurant

1040 Mission St, Ste 102, South Pasadena, CA 91030

This restaurant serves American fair and features a sweet garden patio that is welcoming to human’s and their K9 companions. Friendly locals will likely want to chat and maybe even pet your fur baby. The food is fantastic, though a bit on the pricey side for those of us on a budget so this is a good special occasion spot. I highly recommend the salmon and leave room for desert, their bread pudding is out of this world! They also have a full bar and a nice selection of wines to make it a particularly festive time for you pup and you.

2. Bistro de la Gare

921 Meridian Ave, South Pasadena, CA 91030

A charming French bistro on the corner of Meridian Ave. and El Centro St., this spot will offer you and your doggie companion a front row view to people watch at the Thursday South Pasadena Farmers’ Market. While dogs are not allowed inside the Farmers’ Market itself they can certainly sit at one of the Bistro’s sidewalk tables. Fine and authentic French cuisine is the name of the game so be prepared to enjoy a delicious Steak Frites or other favorite. Sample some French wines while you’re at it! This another gem on the pricier side but worth the delicious cuisine for a fine Doggie dinner date.

3. Radhika Modern Indian

966 Mission St, South Pasadena, CA 91030

Boasting modern Indian food, here is another fine South Pasadena restaurant the will welcome you and your dog with sidewalk seating. Situated on the main commercial section of Mission St. surrounded by many quite boutiques this will make for a delightful outing for you and your dog. I love their mango lassi and any of the Biryani’s which are served piping hot in a crock. Yum!

4. Griffins of Kinsale

1007 Mission St, South Pasadena, CA 91030

This classic Irish pub is a warm, welcoming local gem. Enjoy pub food and a selection of Irish Beers, while you and your dog easily make friends in the outdoor seating area. Right in the thick of the busiest area of our small town, it can get downright crowded. But if its a fun night of food, drinking and friends you are after, this is the place to be. Your K9 companion will be welcomed and the wait staff will gladly bring a doggie water to make sure your fur baby is comfy.
